We always make sure our clients add egress windows when we are doing disaster repair work, foundation repair or crawl space conversions. Providing Your Family an Escape Route
Installing egress windows in your basement will provide an escape route for you and your family in an emergency, and will also allow light to get into your basement, which will make everyone happy, and the benefits don't stop here, because egress windows will add value to your home. Your new egress window will now be considered a legal conforming bedroom, that you can advertise as, if you should ever sell your home.

This customer chose the installation of a new 2 x4 casement style window conversion. A perfect addition not only for added light and aesthetics, but for escape purposes as well.

The first step in a Egress window installation is the excavation of the exterior soil, then the interior saw cut of the existing foundation can be completed. This client went with a large 4 foot x 4 foot conversion.

The next step is the proper level and plum installation of the new Egress window jam. As well as the new upper 2 x 10 header installation to properly support the new Egress conversion.

With everything prepped just right the window can now be installed, anchored to the new jam, as well as sealed and grouted into final placement. The large Egress window conversions require engineering of a new top steel channel, to re insure the structural integrity of the existing foundation wall is not compromised after the Egress conversion placement.

Finally the exterior bricks get a new steel support placed underneath to make sure the bricks stay in place after the conversion is complete. The window is again properly sealed and waterproofed on the exterior, and the conversion is complete.
